Prosure Pet Insurance Reviews from Australian Pet Owners

This company is a joke

December 17, 2025

Go with another provider! You can only claim via mail. I pay less in car insurance. Customer service is non-existent. We’ve tried numerous times to update our details yet they still have the incorrect information on file.

Avoid! Bad value for money, make every claim difficult!

December 17, 2025

AVOID!!! Have been a member for a long time, and would have changed last time we had an issue, but my dog was too old to get insurance anywhere else. Always ask for vet history, even though it was irrelevant to the claim. Provided history for the first and only claim in 2018. Go to claim again, for the second time, and ask for more history. Dodgy. The matter wasn’t preexisting.

Worst company AVOID!!!!

December 17, 2025

Been with the company since my dog was a pup. The older she got the higher the rates went & they put the rates up without notification at all. They put the rate up twice in 1 year. You have to physically mail them details for your claim. They’re over priced. The phone service is terrible.

Premium keeps going up at a min of 60% each year

December 17, 2025

My two cats have been insured since they were kittens. Now the 3rd renewal comes and the premium is up by 60% year over year for both of them. That’s 100% increase vs the first year for one of them (who had one accident claim in the first policy year) and 80% for the other (who has had no illness/accident claims ever). They justify the increase in premium based on the increased veterinary costs but the benefit amount ($150) remains the same.

If you calculate how much you would end up paying for the next 10, 15, 20, 25, even 30 years based on premium increased over the years, it doesn’t make sense to keep paying premium. I will instead deposit the equivalent amount into a separate bank account.

As for the claims, it can be a PITA. If it’s just a routine check up claim, then it’s relatively simple and you will get a payout within 2 weeks. Even for the routine check up claims though, I was asked for full veterinary history a few times even though that’s only required for illness/accident claims. When one of my cats had an accident claim, I had submitted all the history leading up to that date but when we submitted a new claim for a routine checkup again, they asked for the same thing again (full vet history from the beginning of their lives).

If you have illness/accident prone or aging pets, it’s probably worth having pet insurance but otherwise I’d recommend saving money into a separate account instead of paying premium because the pet insurance is a monopoly in Australia at the moment.

Customer service is non-existent

December 17, 2025

The actual cost of the premium is very reasonable, however that is where the positives end. They have always eventually paid out claims but not before significant delays (sometimes months) with continual requests for additional information despite being provided initially. If you expect help from their customer service you will be poorly disappointed as each and every person will tell you something different and you will need multiple phone calls with much frustration and often no resolve.

35% INCREASE: From $83 per month to $112 per month after 1 year (no claims)

December 17, 2025

I signed up my dog when we bought him as a puppy. He has been with Prosure for 1 year on Gold Cover, paying $83 per month. We just received the renewal notice and apparently now the price is $112 per month. THIS IS A 35% INCREASE! This is for a now one year old dog, with no health issues or claims. I don’t really know how to say anything more without getting abusive. Just totally stunned.

Pet Insurance that lasts the Life of your Dog

December 17, 2025

12yo Senior Dog showing signs of Bloat 9pm Friday night of Long Weekend. Huge Belly by the time we arrived at Emergency Vet 1hr drive. Claim Lodged by Vet on Sunday, Public Holiday Monday and Prosure Pet Ins sent Claim Verification Email. Reimbursed 80% of Total Bill Paid into our Bank Thursday. They also Cover your Senior Dogs for their Life which a lot of Ins Companies stop at around 8-9yo. Downside is Cost goes up every year but latest Emergency Bill was $5,500 so out of Pocket $1100 and didn’t have to make a decision of putting him to Sleep because I didnt have that much money. I will keep Gold Cover as long as I have my Old boy as well as our 11yo Male. This is his second Bloat in just over a year so I have made use of the $$$ I have paid all these years.

Excellent Service

December 17, 2025

I have recently had to put in a claim for my dog who had a mass removed from his back. This was a very stressful time, waiting for the results. My vet surgery submitted the claim for me, and within two days I had received payment. The service they provide is truly outstanding. Thank you Prosure!

Consistently great service

December 17, 2025

Ive been a Prosure customer for 16 years are my Labradors have benefited from kind and empathetic service and claims processing that by anyone’s standards is rapid. They have been kind and supportive when my elderly Labradors died, receiving a very supportive letters and this helped a great deal. T I would recommend this insurance company to anyone that wants consistently high standards of service. The premiums are expensive but worth every cent. Thank you
