RSPCA Pet Insurance Reviews from Australian Pet Owners
It’s all a scam to get your money when animals are young and healthy!
I was happy with the coverage 80% up to $20k coverage. But premiums increased significantly every year my dog got older. She is almost 13 and they are asking a ridiculous sum that I can no longer justify. On average I claim one small vet bill per year. I would have liked to continue to have pet insurance into her senior years, where it matters most, but RSPCA made sure that wasn’t going to happen. In the end, I have come to the conclusion that it’s all a scam to get your money when animals are young and healthy!
RSPCA have come through with not a single issue.
This is an easy review to write. I have had to make a claim for our 10 year old boy 3 times now – two of those in the last two days. Each time, RSPCA have come through with not a single issue. It’s stressful enough having to take your furbaby to the vet for urgent care without worrying what it will cost and debating with the vet whether it’s truly an important enough issue to pay potentially thousands for. Of course you’re always willing to pay whatever it takes, but it can really hurt your wallet. RSPCA made our horrible last two days not stressful at all financially, so we could focus only on our boy getting better. It was actually a pleasure paying for our bill at the end of the day yesterday and today.
I put 4 stars only because we do pay ALOT each fortnight for insurance. At $90 a fortnight, it’s crazy – and a quick google search shows that others are of the same opinion. But in the end, it saved us in our time of need. Thankfully we’ve only needed to use our insurance 3 times in 10 years, so we’ve more than paid more than they’ve paid us out, and we never use it unless we have to.
But other than that, we’re simply over-the-moon with RSPCA service wise. It’s incredible and no fuss at all. The last two days have been exhausting and stressful, and they made it easy for us to be able to take all the tests we needed to, to make sure we got the very best care for our precious little boy.
Not Great Value As Suggested!
The policy does not represent good value for money unfortunately; there’s a ‘premium’ for people who care for their pets, I have had this policy for sometime now and in terms of return for outlay the percentage received back is very poor!
Tried to call back and had my call immediately hung up on. Absolutely pathetic!
Filled out a quote online a while ago and then received no less than 7 phone calls, from different numbers, throughout the past week. Quit wasting my time and harassing me via my phone!!! Disgusting behaviour. I’ll never take out insurance with RSPCA because of how they have behaved. I also tried to call them back to tell them to stop calling me, the bloke on the phone said he can’t help and then hung up on me. DISGUSTING. Tried to call back and had my call immediately hung up on. Absolutely pathetic!
You won’t be disappointed. Thanks Kai for your care and interest in my case.
I’ve been with RSPCA pet insurance for my Corgi the last 3 years since she was a puppy. I can’t fault them with their prompt payment on any claims I’ve made (mainly for grass allergy medication) during that time. However unfortunately I have felt the need to discontinue my policy for my dog due to the rise in the cost of the yearly policy. It has doubled in that time. When I called to discontinue the policy, Kai (from RSPCA Insurance) was extremely understanding & not at all forceful about me needing to continue with it. Instead she gave me 3 months of free insurance while I reconsidered keeping the policy going. She also suggested other insurance alternatives that RSPCA offer that I hadn’t considered. I am very happy with RSPCA, so if you have the budget, please use them. You won’t be disappointed. Thanks Kai for your care and interest in my case.
Last years increase of 31% was bad enough but this year they've outdone that.
Last years increase of 31% was bad enough but this year they’ve outdone that. 35% increase with not a single claim made. I don’t know what planet the underwriters are living on but they certainly aren’t living on the same planet as my vet whose costs have only increased by just over 12% in the same timeframe. Why can’t the insurers who offer Pet Insurance offer a No Claims bonus like they do for car, house & contents etc. They know that with an older dog the choices are either put up with exorbitant price increases, take up another policy that still costs a lot but covers nothing or have zero cover. It’s called gouging and it is unconscionable behaviour.
Outrageous price gouging if you ask me….time to change.
We started our insurance just over 4 years ago when we got our golden retriever puppy. It has gone from $70 per month to $170 !!! Outrageous price gouging if you ask me….time to change.
I would highly recommend them apart from the annual increases being way too steep.
We’ve been with RSPCA pet insurance for 3 years, and premiums have just increased to $280 per month from $215, the service has been great, the claims process is easy I would highly recommend them apart from the annual increases being way too steep.
Premiums gone through the roof for no reason whatsoever.
Premiums gone through the roof for no reason whatsoever. Gertrude us deliberately avoiding my calls to resolve my cancellation and continue to take money out of my bank account when instructions were clear not to do this as it is in dispute. Empty promises and I absolutely detest being lied to. It’s all about money and nothing to do with pets or customer service.
Very good customer service with the heart in the right spot.
Our dog who sadly passed away last week was ensured for about 7yrs with RSPCA. We had nothing but good experiences. The last claim I did was for his very last vet hospital visit where he was sadly euthanised. RSPCA offered their condolences to us and even cancelled the policy. Very good customer service with the heart in the right spot.
