Horrible insurance. Just avoid it
Horrible . They never pay you back . Just not worth it. I had it for two years I was just lazy to change it sooner
Ridiculous price hikes
We have beed loyal clients for 13 years with our Pet Policy and Private medical. The price initially was acceptable for the Pet Insurance but the moment our dog turned 8yrs the increments of price hikes doubled…. in 4 years our instalment jumped from $120 to $275 … how could you ever justfy such steap price hikes every year….. now that we cannot get cover any other place because of our dogs age… they just make it unaffordable… my guess is they force you to leave as the Liability is to big… Thats what you get for loyalty!! They take your money gladly with no options to adjust… you cannot even chage your Excess amount. Thanks Medibank… we have cancelled all our policies with you and will never recommend you to any of our friends. Very disappointed. Our increase for 2025 is $75… ridiculous.
Not great
Tried to claim for routine care, and went to the vet for prevention check up for my Dog’s eyes but saw that my dog was offered a cream for his eyes, even though he has no eye conditions the vet only suggested if I wanted it. But, it was unnecessary as he has no issues. The vet also agreed he didn’t need it by the end anyways, but the claims team said my dog had an eye condition, and they’ll be excluding eye conditions from my insurance policy as a whole. After calling up an complaining they said it’ll take 30 days to get back to me and they need to talk to my vet as well. So I called my vet to confirm that he has no eye conditions they said it likely they assumed he did due to the cream they had offered.
Medibank Pet insurance premiums are reasonable.
Important to call out good experiences too with products and have only good things to say about Medibank Pet insurance, premiums are reasonable and our dog had an accident that required emergency surgery and then a followup surgery, both were covered without much hassle and the portal keeps you informed of the progress of the claim without having to be on the phone adding to what is already a stressful situation. Well Done.
I'm very glad we are with Medibank.
My 12 yr old dog has been insured with Medibank most of her life. We have made good use of the policy over the years and are very glad we took it out! Claims are promptly and clearly dealt with. Friends complain to me about their pet insurances and Im very glad we are with Medibank.
Truly horrific customer service
Truly horrific customer service when dealing with the death of my pet.
I emailed to cancel our pet insurance as it has continued to rise by $200 per year.

They emailed back to offer a $200 discount if we continued with them, to the detriment of the other members in the fund no doubt. I ignored this email which it said to do if I still wanted to cancel. Today, they took the full amount from my bank account and now they are closed on weekends so I have to wait god knows how long for them to return my stolen $700! I have many words for them, that I can’t use in this forum. Grrrrr

This pet insurance has been incredibly frustrating. Nearly every claim gets denied due to “pre-existing conditions,” even when it’s a new episode of the same illness. They request all past clinical notes and use any past mention to avoid paying. Pets can have the same issue more than once, but they won’t cover it. Feels like they’re just looking for reasons not to pay. Not worth it.
I was going to switch.
I called to cancel my policy and after speaking to the representative, the information given allowed me to make some alterations to current cover and cover more pets for less than the policy I was going to switch too. It was easy to make changes and add the additional pets over the phone!
Communication is excellent.
My dog has been insured with Medibank Pet Insurance since he was a puppy and he is now 13 years old and I will continue with Medibank Pet Insurance. I have never had any issues with the claims that I have submitted over the years and claims have been paid promptly. Communication is excellent.
