About Australian Seniors Pet Insurance
Australian Seniors launched in 1998 to meet the needs of the often-ignored over 50s market. Since then, we’ve helped countless Australians protect the most important things in life – whether it’s their family’s future, valuable assets, or even their long-planned retirement. We strive to be different by carefully selecting underwriters that share our vision of providing insurance that’s simple, easy to understand, and affordable. That’s why our policies have helped everyone from hard-working over 50s to self-funded retirees take control of the things that matter most.

Australian Seniors Pet Insurance Reviews from Australian Pet Owners
Awesome pet cover
I like and have been so pleased with Seniors Pet Insurance that I have just signed up my 3rd dog on top cover. She is nearly 8 years, dogs ages, Ruskin nearly 7, Kippie 12 1.2 years, all fully covered. They always answer questions if you have any queries you have with a friendly manner, Nothing is too much trouble Their gap prices at vets is awesome. Would never change to another company. A lot of companies will not cover a dog over 7 years and that is when you need pet insurance the most. Thank you Seniors Pet Insurance and my dogs thank you
Have to fight to get claim refund every time
Every time I have made a claim it takes on average two months and many phone calls to chase up the refund. Still waiting on my latest claim that was made at the beginning of June when I have supplied all documentation.
The WORST company to deal with
The policy turned out to be really bad value, very little refund on a vet invoice, Easy to set up. Weeks to get any action on claims, then everything queried until I finally said I’d just let it go to the ombudsman 2.5 years
Disgusting
The original premium for out dog was $112/mth. The next year it went up to $136/mth. A $24 increase straight up! Now it has gone up to $145/mth. We’ve never made a claim. We’re totally disgusted.
Shocking
The premiums went up so high and when I tried to call I was told they didn’t know who I was and couldn’t find any of my or my pets details despite being able to access my bank account and I had been a member for 5 years. I cancelled my policy but the payments continued to come out of my account. I contacted them again and they apologised and said they would refund me the 3 payments. That was in the middle of January and nothing has been refunded. I would definitely not recommend this pet insurance.
Let down
After my previous positive experiences with this company, I was surprised & disappointed to receive a massive hike in this year’s premium, a 30.2% increase which put the monthly insurance for my little dog above the monthly premium for my home insurance! None of the explanations given for this excessive premium “cut it”. As a pensioner, I had little option but to discontinue the policy. It seems as though, once a dog reaches an age beyond which a policy (with a new insurer, say) cannot be initiated, insurers effectively have you over a barrel. Not nice.
If only insurance was more affordable
Although I have 5 pets insured with Seniors Insurance, the process of adding my last 2 pets was not the easiest experience. Not the friendliest salespeople! Also, fair warning,my $1400.0 claim was rejected due to it being a pre-existing injury. My vet proved otherwise, but Seniors will not accept obvious proof. This was after insuring my 5th pet?!?! My 2yr old puppy! Unfortunately, Seniors are one of the very few affordablw companies that insures pets over 8-10 years old. Otherwise I would switch. Lastly the portal needs upgrading. It is not user friendly! For the amount I pay each month ,nevermind per year, Seniors should have its own tech department!
5 star customer service
I don’t usually give reviews but the exceptional service from Nathan from Guide Dogs Insurance was 5 star. He was friendly, genuine, professional and helpful unlike the majority of customer service on the phone these days that leave me frustrated.
It is reassuring to know Seniors Pet Insurance is there for our pet.
Our poor boy needed some treatment seniors insurance was quick in paying out and paid what was expected. We have been with them since our boy was a pup so around 12 years as he has got older he needs more care so it is reassuring to know Seniors Pet Insurance is there for him
Increase in cost of the premiums is getting more difficult to manage as a retired person.
I have had both my dogs insured for 7 years. I get a very quick response time and good communication at all times. However the increase in cost of the premiums is getting more difficult to manage as a retired person.
